GUNGNIR BOOKS LAUNCHES 'ASSETS BY GUNGNIR, ' A NEW COLLECTIBLE PROGRAM FOR COMIC RETAILERS, WITH DEADWEIGHT AS INAUGURAL RELEASE, AVAILABLE AT THIRD EYE COMICS AS LAUNCH RETAIL PARTNER
LOS ANGELES, May 14, 2026 – GUNGNIR Books, the publishing house founded by bestselling author Matthew Medney, today announced the launch of Assets by GUNGNIR, a new retailer-first incentive program designed to transform graphic novels into high-value collectibles while driving demand directly into comic shops.
Assets by GUNGNIR is built to create true scarcity, elevate artist-driven covers, and give retailers priority access to exclusive product that cannot be replicated or reprinted.
The inaugural release is Deadweight, created with Bobby Lee, featuring an exclusive cover by Mario Foccillo, known globally for his work on Absolute Batman and widely regarded as one of the top cover artists working today. This is not another variant. It is a strictly limited collectible event.

GUNGNIR Books has selected Third Eye Comics, the multi-location specialty retailer based in Maryland and Virginia, as its launch retail partner. Third Eye will serve as one of the flagship destinations carrying the inaugural Deadweight release at launch.
Only 1,000 copies of this cover will ever exist. Once sold out, it will never be reprinted, reproduced, or revisited.
Retailers can acquire Assets editions through two paths:

Order through Macmillan via FAIRE or other distribution portals, then follow up via email to secure the limited edition issues
Orders for the Deadweight edition begin immediately and will remain open until sold out. Units are scheduled to ship to stores in early July.
For every 3 graphic novels ordered, retailers receive 1 limited edition issue
Each release includes a 24–36 page comic story pulled from the graphic novel
Foiled covers and premium design, crafted by the GUNGNIR editorial team
Compiled by New York Times bestselling editor Michael Braff
Designed as a new entry point that deepens the story while functioning as a standalone collectible
Retailers will receive priority access to 70% of the total print run, ensuring stores remain the primary destination for these releases. The remaining 30% will be reserved for GUNGNIR’s direct platform as a premium add-on tied to graphic novel purchases.
A limited quantity of art prints featuring the cover will also be made available to retailers, reinforcing in-store engagement and sell-through.
Once a cover sells out, the clock starts on the next edition.
One year later, a new cover artist, a new collectible, and a new entry point into a GUNGNIR title are introduced.
No cover is ever repeated.
No run is ever expanded.
Each edition is numbered 1 to 1,000.
